Sueños Españoles

The new summer season of chamber music in Dordrecht has been beautifully launched at the Trinitatiskapel with the evocative program Sueños Españoles, performed by violist Karin Dolman and pianist Caecilia Boschman.

For over 35 years, this duo has been known for their curiosity and their ability to uncover repertoire beyond the well-known classics. In this program, they explored the rich world of Spanish and Latin American influences in music, weaving together works by Manuel de Falla, Maurice Ravel, Carlos Guastavino, Benny Gilin and others.

With Siete Canciones Populares Españolas as a guiding thread, the program moved between dance rhythms, lyrical songs, and deeply expressive sound worlds. From the sensual atmosphere of Ravel’s Habanera to the intimate lullaby Nana by De Falla, the concert revealed a palette of colors ranging from melancholy to passion.

What makes Dolman and Boschman so compelling is not only their playing, but also their storytelling — inviting the audience into lesser-known musical landscapes and making them feel immediately at home.

This concert marked the beginning of a new series in the Trinitatiskapel, where chamber music continues to thrive in a setting that brings performers and audience closely together.
